The backside of this handout explains when to take the phosphate binder and lists other helpful tips/tricks about how/when to use a phosphate binder. Many people experiencing CKD choose to consume high P meals/snacks; encouraging/teaching someone about how to use a phosphate binder should be considered essential nutrition education to help preserve bone health in patients/clients with CKD or ESRD (requiring dialysis).
